Ongoing projects

The holdings of all sub-libraries were organized according to their own classifications. In order to standardize and improve orientation when searching for books on the shelf, all holdings were converted to a new common classification or system.

The library has gradually changed the shelfmarks of all books in all sub-libraries, changed the labeling of the books and re-sorted them. The current arrangement follows the Regensburg Union Classification (RVK), which is widely used in academic libraries.

As before, the books are sorted and shelved alphanumerically according to their shelfmarks. In order to find a book, it is sufficient to look for the shelf mark, whatever it looks like, in the online catalog. You can therefore find your way around as before.

To this end, the central library will be equipped with a new service counter that meets current ergonomic and accessibility requirements. The acoustics are also to be optimized by means of upright and suspended soundproofing elements in order to simultaneously meet the need for responsiveness at the counter and the necessary quiet.
